| On September 12, 2004 the 12th annual March
of Dimes - Ride Connecticut departed from the Elks Lodge in Middletown, CT.
In 2003 the event had 1500 motorcycle registered. Expectations for 2004 were
somewhere between 1500 and 2000. On event day more than 2200 motorcycles
rolled into the venue, exceeding all expectations.
For 2004,
the venue was expanded from two adjacent parking lots to an
additional parking lot located 1/8 mile away from the main stage. From the
main stage a 2000w system provided background music and announcements. In
the remote lots, only announcements were provided to minimize the impact on
the neighbors. These lots were powered with the equivalent of 550w and 1000w
of sound.
In 2005 and 2006, a new stage setup was used
with about 4,500w of sound. Attendance rose to just short of 3000 bikes.
